Hi, I’m Andre! I’ve been teaching chess to kids and adults for 5 years, and I’m a USCF-rated player (1868) and certified Tournament Director. I believe chess should be challenging and fun, so my lessons mix real improvement with plenty of laughs.

My Services
$50/hour (half-hour option available)
Meet with me online or in person for lessons built around your game. We’ll play, review your mistakes together, and build your understanding of chess theory. Between lessons, I’ll give you study material to keep you improving.

Gather at least four students and book a one-hour class at your library, school, or another location of your choice. Each class includes 30 minutes of instruction, followed by 30 minutes of play to practice what students learned.
I can bring a few boards and clocks, but students are encouraged to bring their own if possible.

As a certified USCF Tournament Director, I can run officially rated tournaments where players earn a national rating. Tournaments are fun for players and spectators alike, and they’re one of the best ways to improve.
USCF charges a separate membership fee for rated events. If you’d rather skip it, I can run a casual tournament under the same rules without the fee.

I teach all ages, from young kids to adults. Students 7 and up usually get the most out of lessons.

Not at all! Complete beginners are welcome. If your child is brand new to chess, we’ll start with how the pieces move and build from there.

It’s not required, but a free Lichess account makes online lessons much more interactive. Send me your username before the lesson and I’ll add you to our shared board so you can move the pieces with me.
